| Tri-Association Manufacturers' Initiative | |
The four economic development organizations of the City of Kawartha Lakes, Greater Peterborough Area Economic Development Corporation, Northumberland County Economic Development and Quinte Economic Development Commission have received Federal Community Adjustment Funding in the amount of $1.55 million dollars to deliver the Tri-Association Manufacturers’ Initiative.
Manufacturing members of the Kawartha, Northumberland and Quinte Manufacturers’ Associations are eligible for rebate funding to support manufacturers that invest in third-party delivered workforce training and/or hire youth interns 29 years of age or younger or displaced manufacturing workers who have lost their previous job due to plant closure or lay-off.
Manufacturers can receive a 50% rebate on the direct costs of training and/or a $1,000 rebate per intern/displaced worker hired for a minimum of three months.

| Limpact Receives $1M FedDev Loan | |
An official announcement was made on Monday, May 10, 2010 of a $1-Million loan to Limpact International Ltd. This funding, through the Federal Economic Development Agency for Southern Ontario, will assist with a $1. 5 - million integrated, robotic assembly-line installation at its D'Arcy Street Plant. |

| Awards Recognize the Best in Business |

Companies and individuals were cited for excellence at the 2009 Business Achievement Awards ceremony held February 26, 2010 at the Best Western Cobourg Inn.
Dave Sommerville, Sommerville's Sporting Goods received the James Crossen Lifetime Achievement Award.
Local Manufacture, Weetabix of Canada Ltd., received the Mayor's Award for "a company that supports other local business by sharing of best practices. Through local affiliations, they foster and promote innovative ideas encouraging other businesses to remain competitive in the global marketplace."
Burnham Family Farm Market was named Agribusiness of the Year.
Bodilogix Fitness was named Emerging Business of the Year.
Northumberland Hearing Centres was named Health and Wellness Business of the Year.
SABIC Innovative Plastics was named Business of the Year in the Manufacturing Sector.
Long's Hunting & Sporting Goods was named Business of the Year in the Retail Trade Sector.
B. G. Roberts Electric Co. Ltd. was name Business of the Year in the Service Sector.
The Victoria Inn was named Hospitality/Tourism Business of the Year.
Cobourg Auto Collision Ltd. was named Skilled Trades Business of the Year.
Pineridge Broadcasting Inc. was named Communications & Technology Business of the Year.
Cobourg Auto Collision Ltd. was named Environmental Business of the Year.
Kim Rudd, was the winner of the Chamber President's Award.

| Cobourg Community Campus (CCC) Breaks Ground | |

A ground breaking ceremony was held on November 16th 2009 for the new Cobourg Community Campus (CCC) at its location on D'Arcy Street.
Mayor Peter Delanty said: "this is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity" This centre will not only bring jobs building, servicing and running it, he said it will attract new companies and families to the area.
The scheduled date of completion for the CCC is March 2011. |

| Cobourg Innovation Centre Open for Business | |

On November 12th, 2009 the Cobourg Innovation Centre, formerly known as the Kraft Plant, announced the re-opening of the facility with an open house, private guided tours and an official ribbon cutting ceremony. The building has a total of 600,000 square feet with units as small as 10,000 square feet on various levels.
The goal of the centre is to generate 250 to 300 jobs in the manufacturing sector, replacing the level of employment the Kraft Plant provided to the community before its closure in 2008.

| VIA Expansion | |
A new expanded railway station will be built in Cobourg. The federal government and VIA Rail Canada are jointly investing $7million in the new station. The expansion includes a new train station, a second platform, and approximately 40 kilometers of upgraded third rail line from Grafton to west of Cobourg. The station, platform and new rail line projects are scheduled to be completed in 2010. |

| Winner of the President's Triple Crown Award | |
Thomas Pontiac Buick GMC has won for a record tenth time, the President's Triple Crown Award for being one of the top GM dealers in Canada for sales and service. Other awards presented to the team were the GM Canada Elite Award for Professional Service Manager, GM Canada Elite Award for Parts Manager and if that wasn't impressive enough Silver Medallions for the Service Consultants Guild along with a salesperson receiving the Gold Medallion as one of the Top Ten GM salespeople in Canada. Lorenz & Son Manufacturing is pleased to announce the arrival of their brand new Flow CNC Water Jet Cutter.
The Water Jet utilizes CNC software which takes standard AutoCAD drawings and converts them automatically so the machine can cut the shape. Using 65,000 psi of water pressure, the Water Jet can cut through steel 8" thick.
